Kellipets, the page for Kellington residents to show their pets.

Any kind of pet is welcome here - just send in a picture, and a little bit about your pet. Christian names of owners will be shown, but not surnames.

Vicky has sent in these photos of her Jack Russel terriers, Nipper and Paddy, the new pup

Paddy and Nipper, fast asleep

We'll wag our tails very fast if we can have a treat.

This is Perdy, a Lhasa Apso who belongs to Olive Branford, with her first litter of 4 pups aged 1 week.

2 have already been sold, but there's 1 bitch and 1 dog pup still available if anyone's interested [Easter 08].

Maggie (9) and Rosie (4) live happily with Two Shoes (11) and belong to Ann. Maggie is a quiet, placid dog who wants to be everyone's friend. Rosie is much more boisterous (and sometimes noisy!) - she's a bit more wary of people but once she gets to know them she's such a fusspot and Ann hasn't yet been able to teach her not to jump up at them in her excitement! Ann regularly takes them to Hunmanby Gap beach - it's their favourite place. Miles of easy-walking sand, no traffic to worry about, no sheep or rabbits to chase and they come back clean. All three animals are the best of friends. Maggie and Rosie clean each other's faces and ears and play together really well now - when Rosie was a puppy she objected to Maggie having any of the toys and it took a long time to teach her that this was wrong. Two Shoes likes to 'parade' in and out of their legs and they stand perfectly still while she does this - almost as if they know they could hurt her if they stepped on her.

This was taken when I was trying to hoover up and they were getting in my way so I put them all outside. It was quite cold and I think we all know what they are asking!

Two Shoes in garden.

She's like a little garden ornament.

She's a very affectionate, home-loving cat who isn't too keen on that big, wide world out there.

On Tuesday, October 30th two of Kellington's dogs gained their Kennel Club Good Citizen Silver Award. Millie and Daisy are Border x Lakeland terriers and belong to Sue and John Parker. Millie is the Hillam Hot Dogs' current height dog, and but will soon be joined by Daisy who will shortly be old enough to compete in open tournaments. They have been training for their Good Citizen awards with Beau de Colley Dog Training, run by John Verity. Training takes place at Haddlesey village Hall during the winter months, and at the Eggborough Power Station during the summertime.

For further information about training, contact John Verity on 01904 709024 or 07703 567653

Quite a few of Kellington's dogs take part in the sport of Flyball - currently with either Kellington Flyball Club or the Hillam Hot Dogs.

The latest Kellington Flyballing dogs, Finnegan and Billy Bob, belong to the Phil and Eileen, who have recently moved into the village.

Billy Bob - Hillam Hot Dogs

Finnegan - Hillam Hot Dogs

Zak - Kellington Flyball Team

Cassie - Kellington Flyball Team

Merlin - Kellington Flyball Team

Scamp - Kellington Flyball Team

Millie - Hillam Hot Dogs

Harley - Kellington Flyball Team

Zippy - Kellington Flyball Team

Daisy - Hillam Hot Dogs

Eileen and Phil have recently come to live in Kellington, bringing with them their cat and 3 dogs

Finnegan is our flyball dog and competes for Hillam Hotdogs.

He's a sensitive soul with a passion for chasing balls and rabbits.

I took him for a walk along Church Lane recently and he broke my finger catching a rabbit whilst still on the lead!

He also takes his responsibilities as guard dog very seriously and has taught Tabitha to bark.

Tabitha is a rescued greyhound - typically wants to lie on the sofa all day, as long as she isn't missing any food. She does love to meet people, however, and has just started visiting Meadow Lodge as a PAT dog.

Billy Bob is the latest addition to the family and won't be a year old until the end of 2007. He was dubbed 'anklesnapper' because I fell over him on the very first day and broke my ankle. It made housetraining a bit of a challenge.

He's going to training classes for the Kennel Club Bronze award
now I'm fit enough and doing quite well in a laid back sort of way,

but at home he can be a monster: he's big enough to 'countersurf' now and nothing is safe from him!

Buckets full of charm make it hard to stay mad with him for long.

We have had Dibley, a chocolate tabbie oriental, for 11 years but he never seemed to grow to full size so looks like a kitten still. His voice makes up for it though and he loves talking to people on the phone.

John and Sue's pets, Lettie, Millie and Daisy

John has also sent in the photo of the horse and foal

Millie is the height dog in the Hillam Hot Dogs Flyball team, and Daisy is her younger 1/2 sister. Daisy likes to do all the things Millie does such as digging holes in the garden, and especially Flyball - though she's too young to compete yet, she's made an excellent start to the sport.

Craig, Tina and Thomas's dog, Harley.

Harley is a Parson Jack Russell terrier, named after the family's favourite motor cycle.

He is a member of the Kellington Flyball Team, and will be running as a height dog for them as soon as he is 18 months old. His 1st tournament will come sooner though - he will be running in their starter team during the May Day Bank Holiday weekend at their home tournament at Drax Social Club

This is John's dog, Meekros, and he is an 8 year old rescue dog.

His major hobby is barking, but he also likes chasing rabbits at a speed which is just enough to allow them to get away and rolling in disgusting things.

He's a typical dog.

David's Jack Russell terrier, Sophie, with her figure back after rearing a litter of puppies (including Nipper, Pippa, Missy and Sonny). Also a picture of Sonny, one of the pups, not interested in posing for the camera

This is my new puppy Nipper. She's a Jack Russell Terrier, and is VERY VERY cute!!! She enjoys nibbling people's trousers, nibbling people's hair, and nibbling people. She's only 10 weeks old and was born on 2nd April. Her favourite toy is "Woolly Pig."

Wiskie is my hamster. She is almost one and a half years old and is very hyperactive (and fat!) She likes to bite the wire top of the cage instead of the wood she has to gnaw on, which is annoying! She also likes to hang from her cage like a monkey! She is very cute, fluffy and funny.

Laura, aged 9

Wiskie died in January. She was a beautiful hamster and we are sad to see
her go. We shall miss her a lot.

sep on jump
Our 5 dogs

This is Sep, she's 9 and loves Flyball. Unfortunately, she's learned that if you get it wrong you get to go again, and again, and again! Her record is something like 12 reruns- and she still didn't get it right.

That's why she is still a Starter Dog.

This is Tag, she's 8. She quite likes Flyball, and is a Flyball Dog, but her favourite sport is Agility which she loves.

Her other favourite activity is herding all the rest of the dogs in the household.

Update - Unfortunately Tag developed severe breathing problems and died on March 6th, 2007

Bluey

This is Bluey, formerly Soviet Valley. She is a retired greyhound and is nearly 5 years old.

Greyhounds make wonderful pets, and Bluey is no exception. She loves to charge round the back garden, and to get up on the chairs when we are out of the room.

Update

Bluey disappeared on October 16th after slipping her lead.

Sadly, Bluey has been found dead very near to the place where she was last seen. It would seem that she had collapsed and died within a very short time after running off. Thanks to everyone who helped to look for her or asked about her.She was a much loved pet, and we shall miss her very much

This is Zippy, aged 3 years old, - she likes Agility, and got a clear round rosette in her 1st show.

Her best friend is Zak, who is 6 weeks younger than she is.

This is Zak, he came to us when he was 11 months old, and is 3 years old now. He loves Flyball [he's a Flyball Dog] and Agility, but his favourite activity is catching flies in the garden, as you can see in the next picture.

Rory

This is Lilly, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.

She is just 10 months old and is Rory's cousin.

She lives in Tingley, Leeds and is just a 20 minute drive from Kellington so it's easy to visit Rory and his family.

Lilly loves company and especially likes to go for walks. She shares the house with Molly, a 3 year old Cat, and both love to chase each other around the house.

My mice are called Bubble and Squeak. They are both marked. They were 1 year old on the 8/1/2005. Bubble enjoys falling off the top of the wheel, and Squeak likes sleeping. They both came from Knottingley pet shop, on the edge of Racca Green Mice are fun and easy to keep as pets. More people should buy them! If you do consider buying them, it’s a good idea to get two to keep each other company. However, make sure that they are two of the same sex. If they are different sexes, they will have lots and lots of babies very, very quickly. My mice’s favourite food is hamster food, millet, cheese biscuit and buttered toast for a treat. They are very cute.

Bubble unfortunately died in October. He was a much loved mouse, and we
shall miss him very much.
